Super Tuesday

February 5th is the biggest day for primary and caucus elections, because there will be 22 states voting for the presidential candidate they want to be in office on January 20, 2009. Some states will have both republican and democratic primaries/caucuses and other may have just one or the other on that day. When you vote in a caucus or primary, it is your voice that is important, because you are telling the electorate whom they’re going to support. I urge everyone to go out and vote. Remember, if you don’t vote you can’t complain about the outcome on the ballot.

Winter Wonderland

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

I just wanted to remind people of our little town and rural North Dakota just how privileged we are. Nature has certainly been at her best as several mornings we have been awakened to the lush frosty shimmering trees that glisten in the sunlight. The sundogs can be seen on the horizon and sometimes the snow falls so light that it reminds us of white feathers that never make a sound. Of course at other times the wind, snow and temperature remind us that weather in North Dakota is not be reckoned with and we should close our doors and stay where it is safe and warm. Maddock is still a place where snowmen are built and kids skate on the river and people chat over warm cups of coffee. Winter gives the land a rest and gives us time to reflect and plan because spring will be here all too soon!
