Parent’s night for the girl’s basketball team will be Monday, January 28. It will be the last home game for the girls. The girl’s would appreciate it very much if everyone could come out and support them since it’s their last home game. It will be the senior’s last home game for their whole high school career. The team’s season is quickly coming to an end. Their last regular season game is on Tuesday, January 29. So they would appreciate it very much if everyone would come out and support them!

Once a month the Memorial Home is offering something special for their residents. It’s “restaurant style” breakfast. I was priviledged to be one of the cooks (Women Ministries from Bethany Church) as the residents ordered from menus and the Youth from the Wednesday Bible Study took the orders. What a variety of food items including pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, toast and bacon and yes, even omlettes!! The ultimate delight…..we got to eat as well!!

I love belonging to Sons of Norway because of the lessons and stories in our Norwegian heritage. On the evening of February 1 and the day of February 2, we will be having a Rosemaling Class. On March 1, Gordon Bennett will be back for another wood carving class. I’m not very artistic myself, but I’m very excited to try these classes. You don’t have to belong to Sons of Norway to enroll in these classes. If you are interested contact Flo Kallenbach or any Sons of Norway member.

Now that it is 2008 the Seniors at MHS should be considering what they will do after highschool if they haven’t already. Those who have not applied for scholarships should start considering to fill some out now. For some scholarships the deadline is February 1, 2008. The deadlines will come before you know it so all seniors should be working on to fill some out. The year is ending quickly and the school year will be out before we know it. Graduation is on May 25, 2008 this year and it is coming quick. Seniors if you have not made any plans after highschool you should contact the school councilor. Suzie Shimioneck is at the school Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week.
I hope everyone is having a great year!

This past week the Maddock School got new cameras installed. Now there are cameras in almost every part of the school. The administration wanted the school to be safer and better looked after. But while the cameras were being installed it caused the school server to go down, it is fixed now though. So now we can be watched in everything we do…

The Maddock Varsity Basketball team has as of so far been short on players with good height. Their tallest player so far has been at a height of 5′7″. Starting on January 25, 2008 they will gain a new girl who is about 6′2″, her name is Laura. The team is very excited to get a girl with that height on their team. She will hopefully be a lot of help offensively and defensively. She should be their leader in the post area. Maddock is already a quick team that can run the floor, and who can also shoot outside very well, and they are hoping Laura will be what completes their team.
